Arrival in Sofia. Check into your hotel. City tour of Sofia in the afternoon including St Alexander Nevsky’s Cathedral, the archeological complex dominated by St George’s Church (4C), St Sofia’s Church (5C) and the other principal sights.		Valley of the Roses
Excursion to the Rila Monastery, the biggest Bulgarian shrine and architectural masterpiece. Overnight in Sandanski, one of the most popular spas in Bulgaria.
		The Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv
Visits to the Rozhen Monastery and the museum town of Melnik, lying amid picturesque sandstone rocks. Then it is on to the town of Bansko, noted for its characteristic National Revival houses and icon-painting school. Overnight stay in Plovdiv, the second largest city in Bulgaria.
Sightseeing tour of Plovdiv, including the Old Town and the Ancient Theatre (2C). Excursion to the Bachkovo Monastery – the second largest one in Bulgaria. After lunch you’ll head for the world-famous Valley of the Roses. Overnight in Kazanluk.
		Koprivshtitza
The programme features visits to the Thracian tomb in the town of Kazanluk(4C BC) the Ethnographic Museum and the Shipka Memorial Church. On your way to Veliko Turnovo you’ll stop over at the open-air Ethnographic Museum of Etura.
Sightseeing tour of Veliko Turnovo, old capital of Bulgaria: the fortress of the Bulgarian monarchs (12-14C) and the National Revival architectural complex. Excursions to the museum village of Arbanassi and to one of the fourteen monasteries in the neighbourhood. Overnight in Veliko Turnovo.
After a scenic drive through the highest mountain pass of the Stara Planina (1525m) you’ll stop at the Troyan Monastery - the third largest in Bulgaria. An afternoon visit to the museum town of Koprivshtitza. Return to Sofia for overnight.

Departure for the city of Plovdiv, Bulgaria’s second largest city. Sightseeing tour of the Old Town and the Ancient Theatre (2C). Drive to the Roman spa of Diocletianopolis with well-preserved fortress walls (in the modern-day town of Hissarya). Overnight stay in Hissarya.
		The Sveshtari Tomb (3C BC)
Visit to the “Valley of the Thracian Rulers” around the town of Kazanluk: The Unesco-protected tomb (4C BC), the biggest Thracian mausoleum in the Ostrusha tumulus, the “Tomb with Columns” and the Arsenalka mound. Drive to Stara Zagora and visit to the ruins of the Roman city of Augusta Trayana. Overnight in Stara Zagora.
A journey to the prehistoric settlement near the village of Karanovo (8th – 3rd millennium BC) with seven cultural layers. Drive to the museum village of Zheravna and a sightseeing tour.Visit to Preslav - the second capital of Bulgaria (10C) before reaching Shumen for overnight.
		The Vulchitrun Treasure (13C BC)
The programme features visits to the Madara Horseman (a 8C rock relief), the ruins of Pliska - the first Bulgarian capital (7 –9C), and the Thracian tomb near the village of Sveshtari (3C BC). Overnight stay in Veliko Turnovo.
